Hello, I’m Amanda Gordon, and I’m passionate about walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. At A Question of Life Counselling, I offer online support for children, teenagers, and adults, drawing on over 15 years of experience across counselling, teaching, mentoring and welfare roles.
My Counselling Philosophy
My practice is rooted in a person-centred approach, creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness-informed practices, tailoring each session to your unique needs.
This approach is grounded in presence, awareness, and authenticity. I believe in showing up as a real person, not simply as a professional delivering techniques. By modelling openness and self-awareness, I support clients in reconnecting with their authentic selves and developing tools for lasting change.
I am committed to helping you live more fully in the present, deepen your awareness of where you are in life, and make empowered, informed choices for your future. Whether you’re seeking clarity, healing, or direction, I offer a warm and collaborative space where transformation can begin.
Experience with Children and Adolescents
I have extensive experience working closely with school-aged children and adolescents, supporting their emotional, educational, and cognitive wellbeing. Whether it’s helping them navigate peer relationships, school stress, anxiety, or self-esteem issues, my approach creates a calm and encouraging space where young people feel safe and supported.
With a background in both education and counselling, I have extensive experience working with individuals of all ages, particularly those seeking a genuine, down-to-earth therapeutic experience. My work is especially suited to those who value a compassionate, individualised approach to mental and emotional wellbeing.
If you're ready to begin a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, I'm here to support you.

Beyond the Therapy Room
When I’m not working, I find joy in creative and grounding activities that help me stay connected to myself and the world around me. I enjoy peaceful walks in the park with my dog, Beattie—these quiet moments in nature help me unwind and reflect. Yoga is a regular part of my routine, offering balance, mindfulness, and a deeper connection between body and mind. I’m also passionate about art and craft; painting expressive landscapes and creating handmade pieces bring me a sense of calm and inspiration. Recently, I’ve been learning woodwork and love the meditative rhythm of shaping something from raw materials. I also find great joy in reading and spending quality time with my family, which keeps me grounded and fulfilled. These hobbies nourish my own wellbeing and reflect the values I bring into my counselling work: presence, creativity, connection, and balance.
