ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Amanda Gordon.
I work with children, teenagers, and adults who are feeling stuck, weighed down, or unsure how to move forward. My role is to help you find clarity, confidence, and practical ways to create change.
With over 15 years of experience in counselling, teaching, mentoring, and welfare, I understand the challenges that come with school, family, friendships, and life transitions. Drawing on both my counselling training and years spent in schools, I bring a perspective that blends compassion with practical solutions. I understand the challenges children and families face, and I aim to create a safe space where positive change feels possible.
My approach is simple: no jargon, no judgment — just real conversations and practical tools that work in everyday life.
My Counselling Philosophy
I believe therapy should feel authentic and useful. That’s why I focus on:
Person-centred connection: every session is tailored to you — not a one-size-fits-all plan.
Solution-focused strategies: practical steps and creative tools you can use right away.
Evidence-based approaches: CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness-informed practices.
I show up as a person first, not just a professional. By being present and genuine, I create a safe space where you can reconnect with your strengths, let go of the weight you’ve been carrying, and start moving forward.
Experience with Children and Adolescents
My work with young people goes beyond counselling — it’s built on years of experience within school settings as a teacher, learning mentor, and education welfare officer. I’ve seen first-hand the pressures children and teens face, both inside and outside the classroom.
In my education roles, I:
Supported children with schooling difficulties, social and emotional struggles, and bullying.
Helped families and schools address safeguarding concerns and create safe environments for young people.
Facilitated multi-agency meetings to coordinate support between teachers, families, and external services.
Delivered both one-to-one and group sessions, giving children practical tools and strategies to cope with challenges.
I now bring this depth of educational and welfare experience into my counselling practice. This means I understand not just the emotional and psychological side of childhood and adolescence, but also the school environment, family pressures, and systemic challenges they navigate every day.
Whether a child is struggling with anxiety, friendships, bullying, or changes at home, I draw on this combined background to provide counselling that feels grounded, relatable, and realistic — and to give parents and teachers strategies that work across settings.
How can i help you?
From life’s toughest moments to everyday struggles — I’m here to help.
I support children, adolescents, and adults through life’s challenges — from the everyday struggles to the toughest moments. Each stage of life brings its own pressures, and my role is to provide practical, age-appropriate support that helps you move forward with confidence.
For Children (ages 6–12):
Anxiety, worries, friendship struggles, school stress, emotional outbursts, or adjusting to family changes. For Adolescents (13–18):
Self-esteem, peer pressure, exam stress, identity exploration, mood swings, anxiety, depression and navigating independence. For Adults:
Grief, bereavement and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work stress, life transitions, and finding clarity when you feel stuck.
Across all ages, I use a solution-focused, person-centred approach: real conversations, practical strategies, and creative tools tailored to where you are in life.
“Change starts with one step. Book your first session now.”

BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM
When I’m not working, I find joy in creative and grounding activities that help me stay connected to myself and the world around me. I enjoy peaceful walks in the park with my dog, Beattie, and gardening. It is these quiet moments in nature that help me unwind and reflect. Yoga is a regular part of my routine, offering balance, mindfulness, and a deeper connection between body and mind.
I’m also passionate about art and craft; painting expressive landscapes and creating handmade pieces bring me a sense of calm and inspiration and I love the meditative rhythm of shaping something from raw materials. These hobbies nourish my own wellbeing and reflect the values I bring into my counselling work: presence, creativity, connection, and balance.
